Anyone in the world It has been a while since you've heard from me, but that's mainly because I've been keeping busy... still, where did the time go?
I attended the Ascilite conference with Stuart (goodness, it was last year!). It was really very fascinating to see how e-learning is used and regarded at a tertiary rather than primary/secondary level. I was most interested in the education in Second Life sessions (of course, haha), and Stuart even has me looking into Sloodle now.
After a very busy and full family Christmas I attended the Auckland RSCDS Summer School, and straight from that into my work here at e-asTTle working on their Moodle site.

Anyone in the world I attended ULearn and had a blast, of course. It was great meeting so many awesome teachers and other professionals. I got to stress all the way to Friday about my presentation, which I think went well, even if I did run a little overtime (woops!). I think I will figure out how to link to my presentation somewhere on here...
I've also been looking at examples of other Moodle sites a bit recently to try and get more ideas of how Moodle can be used in each subject area. It's great the resources that are out there, but they do take a bit of hunting. I'm going through and updating the courses on here, though, and when they are more-or-less done I will make them publicly available. The English and Arts courses are already available, though not entirely complete.
I have been endeavouring to organise my life using OneNote and I'm loving it. Such a great program. Yes, it's Microsoft, and I'm not afraid to say that I LIKE Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office. Still want to play with Ubuntu, though. See what the fuss is about.
So, the end of my somewhat disconnected entry. Blame the hunger... must have food! |

Anyone in the world Well ULearn was a great success.
We met so many people again it was awesome.
If you didn't win a Moodle travel mug or Moodle USB memory stick I'm sorry!
Next conference.... Ascilite in December in Auckland... see you there

Anyone in the world I was going over paperwork for ULearn today.
We have flights, accommodation, registrations sorted.
Need to work on our A4 Flyer / handouts.
Miriam is a bit nervous - maybe about presenting to a large group of Teachers (she doesn't need to be because she is fantastic!)
Feel free to email me if you want to schedule some time to chat at ULearn

Anyone in the world Yes, we will be at ULearn this year !
Although we are really busy, we are making time to attend ULearn - as we get so many teachers asking us if we will be there.
At this stage I think myself and Miriam will be there - which makes sense as she is leading our MoodleSchool project !
We are both giving workshops / presentations - and we're really looking forward to meeting everyone

Anyone in the world I'm really happy that our "MoodleSchool Onsite" professional development package is now more widely available.
We have been working with a number of schools like this during 2009, so it's great that we are now able to expand this programme
- Schools in NZ can now book Miriam to work on-site to support your e-learning and ICT professional development strategy
- She can work with staff in groups, or one-to-one (ideal for busy senior management)
- We keep things flexible and hours are negotiated to suit your school
- Miriam is awesome, and is able to cover a huge range of ICT staff development including Moodle, e-learning pedagogy and design, Office applications (e.g. Microsoft Office and Open Office), Google Docs, Graphics (Photoshop, GIMP, and others), emerging Web 2.0 technologies (Flickr, Facebook, etc.), online gaming e.g. Second Life
- It's flexible, it's cost-efficient, and it's effective !
For full details of this service see the "MoodleSchool Onsite" information page here
We know this is going to be really popular - and any school that wants this in place for 2010 should be talking to us now!
